Why is Nepali an important language to learn?

Nepali is considered an Indo-Aryan language that is spoken mostly in Nepal.  However, you will also hear people speaking Nepali in some areas of Bhutan, Myanmar, and India.  Currently, seventeen million people speak Nepali and you will benefit from learning it as well.  While you can use this language in many areas of your life, most people who learn to speak Nepali do so for travel.  Imagine hiking the Himalayans, wandering through villages meeting the locals, and seeing the wildlife that lives stealthily in the jungles.  There are many thrilling adventures to be experienced in Nepal and you can squeeze them all in between visits to the medieval city squares and monasteries.  This is one of the languages that many people choose to learn for fun, as it is not always as helpful as you would think it would, or could, be during your travels.  Since this is not an easy language to learn, it is nice to know that many people in Nepal speak English.  However, as you might be visiting their country someday, or they could be visiting yours, wouldn’t it be nice to converse with them in their native language?
